Zhang and Derksen Share BMW Asian Open Lead At Halfway Stage
Lian-wei Zhang of China and Dutch golfer Robert-Jan Derksen are tying for the lead in the 2008 BMW Asian Open at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Course, China, after two rounds.
Both players carded a three under par 69 to go with their opening rounds of 70 to go into the weekend 5 under one shot ahead of Ulsters Darren Clarke who also shot a 69 today.
A testing wind made accuracy important and many drives were missing fairways which is why there were only seven sub 70 rounds, the best being a 5 under 67 by New Zealander Mark Brown who moved up to T6.
Overnight leader Peter O’Malley carded bogeys at the 5th, 11th, 15th and 17th in his two over 74, however he remains in contention in fourth place just 2 shot off the leaders.
