USA regain the Ryder Cup in Style

The United States have won back the Ryder Cup as they of come Euopre by 16½ - 11½ after a fantastic singles display at Valhalla GC, Kentucky on Sunday 21st September 2008.
The USA have got their hands on the Ryder Cup for the first time since 1999. The US lead by 9-7 going into the singles on sunday. The US captained by Paul Azinger had to reach the magical 14 1/2 points to get the trophy back. They got this point when Jim Furyk beat Spainard Miguel Angel Jimenez. The US won with 4 games still being played out.

The tone was set on Sunday when Rookie Anthony Kim easily beat Spains Sergio Garcia. In the end the US won 7 of the 12 singles as they forced home their control.
the other US winners were Kenny Perry, Boo Weekley, JB Holmes, Ben Curtis and Chad Campbell.
The European wins came from Robert Karlsson, Justin Rose, Graeme McDowell and Ian Poulter.
Ian Poulter silenced his critics playing in every match and ended up to the top points scoring in the Ryder Cup 2008 with four points from five matches.
This was Europe’s worst performance since 1981 where they lost 18½-9½.

Europe had been strong favourites going into the event after winning the last three Cups and five of the last six.
