The US Open takes place this weekend at Torrey Pines, La Jolla, California. The US open is not a good stamping ground for European golfers with only one winner, Tony Jacklin back in 1970. The golden era of European golf did not provide a winner, Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, Sandy Lyle, Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer and Jose Maria Olazabal all failed to land the US Open crown.

This European tour will be represented by 38 players at the US open including Angel Cabrera, Padraig Harrington and Trevor Immelman, all 3 are current major champions.
Eight European US Open debutants will include US Open Qualifiers at Walton Heath those being Rob Dinwiddie, Ross Fisher Ross McGowan and Alastair Forsyth.

The US Open favourites will be Tiger Woods who returns from injury and Phil Mickelson, we expect the european best bets will come from Sergio Garcia, England’s Justin Rose, Ian Poulter and Luke Donald.

Our US Open Tip is Luke Donald, he is hitting form with 27th at the Players Championship, a 3rd at the BMW Championship and 6th at the Memorial Tournament in his last 3 outings, we think he is driving well, and his putting is finding form at just the right time.
