Tiger was playing his first tournament in 2 months following knee surgery he had straight after the US Masters, this surgery was to clean out cartilage in his knee.
This more major surgery will correct a injury he suffered at the British Open at Carnoustie last year.
Woods has already had surgery three times on his left knee and hopefully this latest lay off will cure his problems. Woods defied doctors orders to play the US open on the first place.
