Tiger knees a rest - Woods out with knee op should be back for US Open
Tiger Woods will be out of golf for 4 to 6 weeks after going to hospital to have an operation on his left knee.
Woods who finished second in the US Master to Trevor Immelman has been playing in pain for a few weeks. Immelmans win stopped Tiger from winning the Grand Slam of majors this season..
Tiger has being playing in pain but he has had surgery on his knee before back in 1994 and then again in 2002.
Tiger Woods who is currently in fantastic form having had 3 wins a 2nd and a fifth from 5 starts on the PGA tour this season, and this past weekend he was runner up in the masters.
Woods is expected to miss 2 of his scheduled tournaments as he recovers. He is expected to make his return to golf at the Memorial Tournament on May 29th – 1st June 2008. This will mean he will miss the The Wachovia Championship and also the “fifth major” the players championship at TPC Sawgrass.
Woods was quoted on his official website saying
I made the decision to deal with the pain and schedule the surgery for after the Masters.
I look forward to working through the rehabilitation process and getting back to action as quickly as I can.
