Spanish Open 2008 - Preview

The Open de Espana 2008 (Spanish Open) takes place this week, this is the latest leg of the European PGA tour.

The venue is The Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, Seville Spain, one of Europe’s best and most challenging courses.

The course which was designed by José María Olazábal, features wide fairways and numerous bunkers, it is held in very high regard by hardened professionals and amateurs alike.

Last years champion Charl Schwartzel of South Africa returns to defend his title, however he will have his work cut out as other leading contenders include Darren Clarke, hot from his success in China last week, and Spanish favourite Miguel Angel Jiménez who leads the home challenge and is looking to add this title to the Hong Kong Open he captured earlier in the year.

Newlywed Colin Montgomerie, Thomas Levet and American John Daly are also in the competitive lineup
