Sergio Garcia is new Players Champion after play off win
A European has won at the Players Championship again as Sergio Garcia becomes the first European since Sandy Lyle to Win the “5th” Major. He had to work for it as he ended up tied for the lead after 72 holes with Paul Goydos on 272 five under par.
The tournament went to a play off, on the first play off hole on the dreaded 17th, Paul Goydos found the water, whilst Sergio Garcia found the green. Goydos had to therefore pitch in from the landing area to win he failed to do this which all but gave Garcia the title. Goydos misses his bogey put whilst Garcia 2 putted to get par, and the Players Championship winners cheque of 1.71 million dollarss.
Well Done Garcia
