Scott Strange Consolidates Celtic Manor Lead
Australian Scott Strange followed up yesterday’s sensational 63 with an equally good bogey free five under par 66 in todays second round of the 2008 Celtic Manor Wales Open.
Today’s 5 birdies mean that Strange has now opened up a 4 shot lead over the chasing pack.
Best round of the day came from England’s Benn Barham who shot a seven under 64 and is now in a four way tie for second place on -9 alongside his countryman Robert Dinwiddie who carded a 65, India’s Jeev Milkha Singh and Alvaro Velasco of Spain who carded a 68 to go with yesterday’s 65.
With the projected cut at -1 we have some notable casualties amongst those who are likely to miss the weekend, Open Champion Padraig Harrington +2, Paul Lawie +1, Paul McGinley par and Bradley Dredge par.
