Ryder Cup European Pairings Leaked Drama
The Ryder Cup tees off tommorow ( Friday 19th September 2008 ) and already there has been Controversy with the European Team Pairings for Day 1 being “leaked” by Sky Sports.
A eagled eyed cameraman managed to zoom in on a sheet of paper European Team Captain Nick Faldo was writing on whilst following his players on warm up rounds.
The resulting press conference was dominated by media hacks asking Nick Faldo about the names on his sheet of paper.
The note had Euro Team members intials divided into pairs. When quizzed Nick Faldo brushed it off.
He said it was just the lunch list and nothing more!! saying it was a list of who wants Tuna who wants ham and beef!
After constanting pressing Faldo did admit it was a list of his team but he tried to argue that his final team is not set in his mind.
Fakdi then said they might look like pairings but you dont know what order the team will go out.
The official parings will be announced at the Opening ceremony at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky which will be around 22:30 PM UK Time. The foursomes is the first event of the 3 day Ryder Cup where Europe will look to retain the trophy.
The leaked pairing suggest Faldo will give wit these pairings. Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood paired together, then Padraig Harrington and Robert Karlsson.
There then was a list of initials of Justin Rose, Ian Poulter, Graeme McDowell and Paul Casey, then Oliver Wilson, Soren Hansen and Miguel Angel Jimenez. The player likely to miss out is Henrik Stenson
