Rose just misses out on Memorial Tournament as Perry Wins
The 2008 Memorial Tournament winner is Kenny Perry who managed to beat off a string of players as he hit a 69 to win by two shots at the Muirfield Village GC · Dublin, OH. Kenny was due a win he has slogged it our around the US, this was his sixth tournament in a row.
Perry managed to hold off England’s Justin Rose, J Kelly, M Weir and M Goggin who all ended up six under.
The Memorial Tournament led to a welcome return to form of English Number 1 Justin Rose. His 6 under par 272 holes at Muirfield was the first time rose had gone under par since the World Golf Championships-CA Championship in March. It was also his first cut since the Masters where he finished 36th having led after day 1. Nick Faldo the Europe Ryder Cup Captain will be pleased to see his key players returning to form in Ryder Cup year. Luke Donald also had a good weekend at Jack’s Tournament finishing joint 3rd with a 2 under par 272 holes.
Perry is now a 3 times winner of the Memorial Tournament, hosted by the Great Jack Nicklaus. Perry takes the Memorial winners prize money of $1.08 million part of the total prize purse of $6m. It give Perry his 10th PGA tour title and puts him in a good position in the US Ryder Cup Standings to join Paul Azinger’s team win the Ryder Cup returns to the home of US Golf at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.
