Romero wins the Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Argentine Andres Romero, has won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans after a timely 68 on the final day. He posted the score a few hours before the round 3 leaders finished. He had a nervous wait to see if Peter Lonard could force him into a playoff. Lonard bogeyed the 17th and was unable to break par on the 18th, which gave Romero the $1,118,000 winners cheque, and his first win of the PGA Tour.
Round 3 leader John Merrick slipped to 7th after a 1 over the par 73, Briny Baird who looked so good on the first two days, and entered the final round in second place could only muster a 2 over par 74.
Round of the day came from James Driscoll who carded a 6 under par 66, they round included 8 birdies, and 2 bogeys, It shot James from t55 after round 3 to t12. Tim Wilkinson from New Zealand also managed to surge up the leaderboard on the final day a 5 under par 67 took him up to 3rd after he was t13 at the beginning of the day
