Pablo Martin breaks course record on day 1 of Portuguese Open
It was records galore on day 1 of the Portuguese Open, Both Gregory Bourdy and title holder Pablo Martin broke the course record with 8 under par 63s, it looked like Darren Clarke might have broken the course record too as he got to 6 under par in the front 9, a series of bogeys penned him back in the back 9.
The best placed brits were Simon Khan and Alistair Forsyth who were tied for 6th place.
Martin broke onto the scene last year at the Estoril Open de Portugal when he shocked the golf world by winning as an amateur, his round today was all the more remarkable as he had failed to break 70 in 6 other European Tour Events this season.
