Olazabal returns to golf this week
Spanish Great José Maria Olazábal is expected to make his comeback from shoulder and groin injuries, which have kept him out of golf since August 2007.
The Spaniard is due to make his return to golf in the Andalucian Open in his home country of Spain starting this Thursday.
The sponsors MAPFRE have invited Olazbal to play this week, The tournament is ideal it is on home soil and will give him a proper test of recovery from injury before hopefully flying over to the Us for the Houston Open, before hopefully playing the Masters at Augusta on April 10 –13. The Masters is special to Olazabal as he has worn the green jacket twice.
Olazabal will be itching to do well having missed so much golf, but he has been quoted as saying this weeks saying
“This is just a test, nothing else, It does not mean that I am back to competition on a regular basis. I am going to test myself and see how I feel, how does my body react.
“I am coming to Aloha with doubts, I am not sure whether it will be a matter of just one week and then back home, or I can continue playing some more tournaments.”
Olazabal last played golf at the US PGA Championship in August when he missed the halfway cut with scores of 75 and 80. Clues to his injury started at the British open which he had to pull out of due to injury.
It seems that finally olazabal is back to fitness and he can resume his illustratous career, All here at golfingnews.org.uk wish him all the best and we will be checking out his first round on thu when we report from the Andalucian Open
