Michelle Wie gets Wild Card
Golf starlet Michelle Wie has been given a wild card exemption to play the Canadian Women’s Open in August.
The Royal Canadian Golf Association have announced that the event sponsors have invited Wie to take part in the $2.25 million event which takes place between 14th August to 17th August 2008 at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club Canada.
The Tournament Director Sean Van Kesteren praised the global pull of Wie
“Michelle’s global notoriety will no doubt attract a following at Ottawa Hunt and I’m sure golf fans will offer her a tremendous welcome as she challenges the world’s best players,”
Michelle Wie will join a star studded field which includes the Canadian Women’s Open defending champion and World Number one Lorena Ochoa, Swedish Golf Superstar Annika Sorenstam will make her Canadian Open Swan Song . Also lined up to play are US Womens Golf Stars Karrie Webb, Paula Creamer and Meg Mallon.l Home Crowd support comes from Canadians Lorie Kane, Dawn Coe Jones and Alena Sharp
