Lundberg is the winner of Russian Open for Second Time

The Russian Open has been won by Swede Mikael Lundberg, this is the second time he has won the Inteco Russian Open Golf Championship, Mikeal won at Le Meridien Moscow G & CC back in 2005.

Lundberg secured the Russian Open Title with a 68 and took the russian open winners prize money of € 210,237 and a two-year tour exemption. The two year tour exemption will come in handy as until the Russian Open Lundberg had failed to land any top 10 finishes in 2008 and he had missed the cut in his last two events.

The Swede Lundberg ended up 21 under par and had a two shot lead over Jose Manuel Lara who ended up second.
The best placed English player was Benn Barham who was 3 shots behind in 3rd place, a shot behind him was Norway’s Jan Are Larsen. Great English hope was European Tour Rookie Jamie Moul, he was one shot off the lead overnight but he could not build on this great position hitting 73 today and he ended up back in 6th Place. This is still a great result for the former Amateur world champion.

Jose Manuel Lara was looking good for a European Tour win as he hit a eighth birdies on the 14th but a bogey at 15 ended his hopes, that said he finished with a 64 and was clubhouse leader at 19 under.

Lundberg held his nerve though and managed to secure a important par at the difficult 15th even after driving into the trees and rough. He scrambled well and made par, which put him on course fot eh Russian Open 2008 Title.
