Tour Veteran Angela Stanford carded a 62, a 10 under par round on day 1 of the safeway international at Superstition Golf Club Arizona. She had a fantastic front 9 with two runs of 3 birdies in a row, a further 4 birdies followed in the back 9. Current champion and world number one Lorena Ochoa is a further 3 shots back after a impressive 65.

A hole in one was recorded by Patricia Meunier-Lebouc which was her third on the LPGA tour she holed out on the 167 yard 17th hole, this was only the second ace of the season.
