The MAPFRE Open de Andalucia at Aloha Golf Course, Marbella went to a playoff between Thomas Levet of France and nineteen year old Oliver Fisher of England.

The pair who, had shared 2nd place going into today’s final round, both carded 5 under par 67’s to complete the final round with a sixteen under par total of 272, however Fisher was denied his maiden tour win after picking up three bogeys on the back nine.

Levet shot par on the first hole in the sudden death playoff to record his first win on the European tour for four years, Fisher hit a bogey 5.

Defending champion and overnight leader Lee Westwood, who at one time looked like recording back to back wins in the event, finished 3 shots behind in third place on 275. He undid the good work of getting four birdies in the first 6 holes by recording 3 bogeys in the remainder of the round.

Thomas Levet is one of the top French golfers, a winner of three previous European Tour titles, most recently The 2004 Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond.

Levet has battled his way back to form and fitness after suffering from vertigo throughout 2006 and the early part of 2007, it was not until the end of the April 2007 that he was in a position compete on the tour once more.
