Khan and McDowell locked together in Scottish Open
England’s Simon Khan and Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell are locked together at the top of the leaderboard in The 2008 Barclays Scottish Open at the Loch Lomond Golf Club.
Khan, whose only PGA European Tour win came at the 2004 The Celtic Manor Wales Open, carded a 68 to end the day at 10 under par.
Also on 10 under is who McDowell has has won three times on the tour the latest being Ballantine’s Championship, South Korea in March of this year. Today he enjoyed the best round of the day a fine 66 which included an eagle 2 on the par four 14th, he moved up the leaderboard from fourteenth place.
Two strokes behind Khan and McDowell on 8 under par there is a four way tie for third place, they are last weeks European Open winner England’s Ross Fisher, India’s Jeev Milkha Singh, Australian Richard Green and the enigmatic Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez,
Angel Cabrera who lead the tournament at the halfway stage was still well in contention despite an in and out round until a disastrous triple bogey 7 at the 12th, he recovered a stroke with a birdie at 14 before a second triple bogey on the par 3 17th all but ended his chances, he is now eight shots off the lead on 2 under par, his playing partner Damien McGrane had an equally bad day chalking up 7 bogeys.
