Many are saying that without Tiger Woods The 137th Open Golf Championship loses some of its glitter, I say not at all, this years Open will be just as exciting and dramatic as we have come to know and love.

After all last year we had plenty of excitement with Sergio Garcia just missing out to eventual Champion Padraig Harrington, and where was Tiger? back in a share of 12th place thats where.

In my opinion the main effect of Tiger Woods missing the tournament will be that thirty golfers will tee off on Thursday with the mindset that this could well be their year for Open glory, whereas with Tiger in the field that number would be reduced to just a handful.

My tip for the top in the 2008 British Open Championship is Miguel Angel Jiménez, he is having a great year on the PGA European Tour winning the UBS Hong Kong Open and BMW PGA Championshipm he has already banked €1,704,730, and in last week’s Barclays Scottish Open he was the only golfer to have four sub-seventy rounds.

Jiménez is currently available at around 36/1 and with some bookmkers paying up to 7 places he must be the each way bet of the tournament.
