Jeff Overton took an early clubhouse lead at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open at the Montreux Golf and Country Club in Reno, NV.
Jeff Overton hit a seven under par 65 which included 8 Birdies and just one bogey. His round will be hard to beat as half the field still to finish.

Overton held a one-shot lead from England’s Brian Davis and Americans Harrison Frazar and Marco Dawson, who were two shots back on five-under-par.

Overton went out in 31 strokes, having birdied holes two through five before a solitary bogey on the 14th pegged him back to seven-under-par.

Davis had a fairytale back nine to claim his spot near the top of the leaderboard, with five birdies offsetting the bogeys on six and seven that threatened to spoil his round.

Jason Gore and John Merrick were among the late starters making moves towards the summit of a packed leaderboard.

Michelle Wie who has caused controversy by accepting an invitation to play in a mens PGA Tour event above playing in the womens open has had a difficult start to her round with 2 bogeys, but a birdie at the 6th steady her a bit, and a birdie at 9 brought ber back to level par. The inward 9 had a further two bogeys, but a birdie at the par 5 17 brought Michelle Wie back to one over with a round of 73.
