Jaidee and Noren Lead Rain Delayed Barclays Scottish Open
The start of The 2008 Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond was delayed by one and a half hours due to heavy rain. Instead of 7.30am, play began at 9.00am.
First round honours go to Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee and Alexander Noren of Sweden who both carded magnificent 7 under par 64′s.
Jaidee started slowly and bogeyed the 2nd hole but after four consecutive birdies on 3,4,5 and six he was on his way further birdies on the 9th, 17th and 18th completed his fine round.
Playing later in the day Noren who started on the 10th tee shot a perfect bogey free round, going out in 64 before a phenomenal 6 birdies on his homeward 9 meant he returned in just 30 strokes.
In third spot is Angel Cabrera who shot an error free six under par 65.
Top of the British contingent are England’s John Bickerton and Welshman Garry Houston who share fourth place on 5 under par with Sweden’s Niclas Fasth.
Phil Mickelson shot a level par 71 while Ernie Els and Adam Scott are both on one over.
Sweden’s Pelle Edberg, had an hole in one at the 17th.
