Irish Open 2008 - Preview

The 2008 Irish Open begins tomorrow at the Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort Ireland.

The course, one of the last to be designed by Robert Trent Jones was opened in 1995.

The river is a key factor on the 15th and 18th which require a long second over the river if going for the green. At 7453 yards this course is a stern test especially if there is any wind.

Last years winner Padraig Harrington will be looking for a repeat win, something that hasn’t been achieved since 1996/97 when Colin Montgomerie had back to back wins when the tournament was held at Druids Glen.

Lee Westwood, currently third on The European Tour Order of Merit leads a strong international field which includes Sweden’s Robert Karsson, Colin Montgomerie and Paul Lawrie.
