Improve your Golf By Playing The Shots You Can Make
As you may know I’ve been playing the beautiful, bemusing, amusing and often perplexing game of golf for nigh on 50 years. My heroes include the likes of 5 time Open winner Peter Thompson and the great Arnold Palmer. Over the years I’ve made almost every mistake in the book and invented quite a few new ones for good measure.
So what do I mean by the title of this article “Improve your Golf By Playing The Shots You Can Make” ?
Exactly what it says on the tin, play a shot you can play rather than going for the once in a lifetime shot, if the shot is 10 yards further that you know you can manage don’t just blast it and hope as ninety nine times out of a hundred it will only end in disappointment.
How many times have you seen other players going for the big one, the career shot, only for them to end up in trouble and suffer the indignity of a three shot swing against them? I’ve done it myself more times than I care to remember, usually when buoyed up by a little something from the hip flask.
By being disciplined and only trying to make the shots you can make, your game will slowly but surely improve, remember this next time you are tempted to play a shot you are not capable of achieving.
