Trevor Immelman heads the masters at the half way stage after shooting another 68 to take him to 8 under, he has a one shot lead over Brandt Snedeker who is seven under.
Phil Mickelson the two times masters winner is well positioned 3 shots off the lead. The best placed Brit is Poulter who is tied 3rd with Mickelson.
Justin Rose under did all his good work on day 1 when he had a tie for the lead, he hit a 6 over par 78 which included a triple bogey on 15, where he ended in the water and chipped twice past the green. Rose was the last player to go round and he said he was tired and hungry, and obviously disappointed with the way he played.

Tiger Woods is 13th currently 7 shots off the lead and we will need to see a big charge from Tiger if he is going to win the first major on his journey to win the golf grand slam.

Some leading players did not even make the cut including Ernie Els, who was +4 and the cut line fell at +3. Other players to miss out were Sergio Garcia (76, 72) and England’s Luke Donald (73, 75).

Fred Couples failed to make the cut for the first time in 23 years. Veteren and legend Gary Player missed the cut, but got a 78 and vowed to return next year. He was interviewed saying that if he got below 80 he will come back again, for his 52nd Masters.

Also missing for round 3 will be Steve Stricker, Jose Maria Olazabal who just missed the cut on 3 over. Rory Sabbatini the Par 3 winner missed the cut. So the hoodoo that par 3 winners dont win the masters will continue for another year. Other stars to miss out were also Tom Watson, Bernhard Langer, Mark O’Meara Ben Crenshaw and Fuzzy Zoeller.
