How Phil Mickelson Lost The 2008 U.S. Open

Watch in amazement as Phil Mickelson repeatedly attempts and fails trying the same shot at Torrey Pines where he carded a quadruple bogey 9 on the par 5 13th hole, effectively ending his chances in the 2008 U.S. Open.

Despite a birdie on the last Mickelson ended with a round of 75, five over par and on +9 for the tournament, 12 stokes off the pace, a formidable task awaits him on the final day.

It was at this very same hole that Tiger Woods turned round his fortunes with the first of his Eagles as he went on to pick up four strokes in the last six holes to take the lead.
