Home favourite Garrido Smashes Course Record In Spain
The new course record of 65 set by Sweden’s Martin Erlandsson in the first round of the Open de España at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla stood for just one day before being smashed by Ignacio Garrido of Spain who carded a nine under par 63 on Friday.
Garrido’s round of nine birdies and nine pars shaved two stokes off the record, he described the feat as “the best golf of my life”, Garido is now at 15 under par.
In second place four shots behind sits overnight leader Martin Erlandsson who carded a -4, 68, bogeys on the first and seventeenth prevented him being in a stronger position.
