Havret sets the standard in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles
Grégory Havret set the standard in the first round Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles with his 5 under par 68 giving him a two stroke lead over the field.
The Frenchman enjoyed 6 birdies in his round the only blip being a bogey on the first hole, his tenth.
Four golfers are currently tied for second place on 3 under par two Englishmen Robert Rock and Paul Broadhurst, Gary Orr of Scotland and Christian Cévaër of France who ended his round with eagle on the 18th.
In total 21 players shot under par including tournament favourite Lee Westwood, who might have been in a much better position but for going bogey, double bogey on the 4th and 5th (his 13th and 14th).
Another golfer to have a bumpy ride was England’s Ryder Cup hopeful Nick Dougherty who had 5 birdies and 5 bogeys during his level par 73. Also on level par is Justin Rose who birdied the first and last but bogeyed the 14th and 15th.
