Havret retains lead in the Johnnie Walker Classic
Grégory Havret has retained the lead in the Johnnie Walker Classic at Gleneagles after shooting a 71 to go with his opening round of 68, this puts him on 7 under par for the tournament.
The Frenchman bogeyed the 1st however made up for this error with a birdie at the 2nd, bogeys at 5 and 11 where more than catered for by birdies at 9, 12 and 14, then Havret encountered problems at the15th, where he carded a double bogey, swiftly moving on he redressed the situation with an eagle at the next, he concluded the round with a birdie on the 18th 2 under for the round and one ahead of the chasing pack
Robert Rock is in second place after a birdie on his concluding hole of the round propelled him ahead of the remainder of the field. Rock duplicated yesterday’s 3 under par score of 70 to go to 6 under for the tournament. Beginning at the 10th, Rock birdied his opening hole and also the 14th, he bogeyed the 15th which he also did in the first round but immediately redressed the balance by holing out a 30 foot eagle putt at 16. A bogey on the 1st saw Rock drop back before that birdie on the ninth put him into 2nd.
A 68 by Scotland’s Peter Whiteford has moved him up the field from T22 to T3 alongside Bradley Dredge of Wales.
Best round of the day was a 7 under par 66 by Robert Dinwiddie who had a disastrous 9 over par 82 in the first round, his 2 over par total means he survives the cut.
