Harrington to miss the PGA Championship Wentworth

Padraig Harrington the open champion has decided to miss the first European tour event in Europe, The BMW PGA Championship from Wentworth.
Harrington has decided to concentrate his energies on the US Open, which takes place in June.
Harrington though knows he need to get some European Tour Order of Merit Points to ensure he makes the Europe Ryder Cup team so he is going to play the Wales Open at the Celtic Manor.

Harrington has explained his decision will allow him to make an attack on the second major of the season the US Open.

“It takes me a full week to get rid of my technical thoughts and another week to get into focus. I want to be there when it starts the third week,”
“I could have gone to the States and played the Memorial but with one eye on the Ryder Cup, I’ll play in Europe.”

Harrington was disappointed with his performance at the Masters in Augusta where he struggled with his putting; he therefore also decided to dodgy the difficult greens at Wentworth.

The BMW PGA Championship takes place from 22 to 25 May 2008 at the Wentworth Club, Surrey.
