American Goydos took a surprise lead in the Players championship at TPC Sawgrass after round 3

Sergio Garcia who had lead for the first two rounds, let his chances of taking the unofficial 5th major when he bogeyed the last twho holes, which gave Paul Goydos a two shot lead.

Veteran Bernard Langer, was not ablle to captalise on his day 2 67 as he shot a 3 over par 75, but he still 4th which is a a great achievement for the Champions tour player.

The English interest seems to have waned as again Ian Poulter can not maintain his form over four rounds. He hit a one over par 73 yesterday which took him to level par for the tournament and 14th overrall.
