Spainard Sergio Garcia made a fantastic start the the unofficial 5th Major, the Players Championship at the amazing TPC at Sawgrass.
Garcia found his form today, after months of lost form, which included him missing the cut at the US Masters. Garcia hit 7 birdies and had only 1 bogey in his 6 under par 66. His Driving was strong with an average of 278 yards off the tee, with accuracy of 71%
Sergio has a 2 shot lead over Kenny Perry and Paul Goydos. England Ian Poulter continues his good form in the US he is one shot further back after shooting a 69 which contained 5 birdies and 2 bogeys.

The world famous 17th hole par 3 which is surrounded by water, did not seem to cause too many problems with 82% of players at least making Par, first day stats were as follows:
