Defending champion Lee Westwood has the clubhouse lead on 6 under par in the unfinished second round of the Quinn Insurance British Masters at the Belfry.

Fog prevented Friday’s second round from getting underway until 10.45am.

Westwood’s two under par second of round 70 took him to the top of the leaderboard. Jeev Milkha Singh, is also at six under par after 12 holes he will be up early on Saturday to complete the round.

Beginning at the 10th, Westwood bogeyed the opening hole after plugging the ball in a bunker with his approach shot, a quick recovery as he birdied the next, only to drop a shot on the 12th before immediately birdieing the 13th, another dropped stroke on the 14th saw him turn in 37 however he hit 3 birdies on the bounce at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd before bogey on 4th and picking up a stroke on the 7th.

The day saw a record equalling three holes in one, England’s Phillip Archer hit the first when he aced the 7th, Spain’s Alvaro Quiros was next scoring 1 on the 12th and finally Jeev Milkha Singh also aced the 7th.

Play in the second round will resume at 7.30am on Saturday and the third round will follow on, this will be played as 3 balls from 2 starting tees in an attempt to make up time.
