Flying Start Puts Westwood Back In Andalucia Pole
Lee Westwood sprinted out of the blocks on day 3 of the MAPFRE Open de Andalucia chalking up five birdies in the first five holes, two more birdies followed on the 9th and 10th before the only blip of the round when he dropped a shot on the par 4 11th, finishing the round of with seven straight pars for a round total of 66, 6 under par.
The defending champion now leads at 12 under par with a total of 204.
There is a 3-way tie for second place between Thomas Levet of France and English duo Oliver Fisher and David Lynn, they lie one shot behind Westwood on 205 after Levet and Lynn carded 68’s and Fisher had a bogey free 5 under par 67.
The remainder of the top 10 on the leaderboard are all Swedish lead by round 2 leader Peter Hedblom whose 2 under par 70 puts him in 5th place on 206.
