Flying Dutchman – Muntz Takes First Round At The KLM Open
The home crowd had plenty to cheer about at the Kennemer G & CC, Zandvoort as Dutchman Rolf Muntz shot 64 to take The KLM Open first round lead.
Muntz enjoyed a bogey free 6 under par round with a particularly purple patch of three consecutive birdies on the 10th, 11th and 12th. It is 8 years since Muntz recorded a European PGA Tour victory.
England’s John Bickerton shares second spot with Denmark’s Søren Hansen, while Bickerton shot 5 birdies in his error free 5 under par round Hansen will be reflecting on what might have been had his card with 7 birdies not been marred by a double bogey on the 9th.
A 66 by Alexander Noren of Sweden gives hime sole tenancy of 4th place while 8 golfers share 5th place at 3 under par, they include Justin Rose who his hoping to cement his Ryder Cup place.
