Fisher has halfway lead in European Open

First day leader Ross Fisher is still ahead of the chasing pack in the The European Open at the The London Golf Club in Ash, Kent.

The Englishman shot a four under par 68 to go with the course record 63 he carded on Thursday and he goes into the weekend with a total of 131, just one stroke in front.

The five stroke swing was all down to the putter, on Thursday Fisher only two putted on seven greens, today it was twelve.

In second place is Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell who has played steady golf and has had rounds of 65 and 67 to sit one stroke off the lead.

Spain’s Sergio Garcia, winner of The Players Championship in May, shot 64 today to move up the leaderboard from 30th to 3rd, just four strokes behind Fisher.

A 67 today puts defending champion Colin Montgomerie into a share of fifth place and well in contention.
