Finch Flies Away With 2008 Irish Open Golf Championship

The Irish Open Golf Championship for 2008 at Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort, has been won by England’s Richard Finch.

Finch played a steady workman like round of 70, 2 under for the day which gave him a tournament total of 278, 10 under par, a clear 2 stroke lead.

This is Finch’s second win on the PGA European Tour, his first was the Michael Hill New Zealand Open last December.

Yorkshireman Finch got an unexpected ducking as he slipped into the river after taking his third shot at the final hole but he recovered sufficiently to only drop one shot.

Felipe Aguilar of Chile scored a two under par 70 today to move up from fourth place to second.

Third round leader Bradley Dredge suffered the same fate that befell the leaders of the first two rounds as he dropped tamely away, his final round score of four over par left him back in eighth place on -5, five shots adrift of eventual winner playing partner Richard Finch.

First day leaders Australia’s Richard Green and India’s Jeev Milkha Singh who were on -6 after Thursday’s round ended the tournament at 3 over par.

Michael Lorenzo-Vera of France who was leader of the pack after Friday’s play also on -6, fell back to +1 for the tournament.
