Fans flock to Augusta for The Masters Golf

Fans descent on the Masters Golf

This week the first major of the season takes place when The Masters is played out at the world famous Augusta National Golf Course.

The worlds top players will be flying in from around the world, some only recently booked their tickets like Johnson Wagner, who left it late to secure his berth by winning the Shell Houston Open on Sunday.

As well as the golfers, golf fans are flocking from all of the US and from around the world to see the event live.   Many fans have arrived today ticket less hoping to pick up tickets from ticket scalpers and ticket touts.   Fans are also descending on the various gates surrounding the course to try to catch a glimpse of the precision cut driveways and picture perfect trees and shrubs.

The Masters is a time where people will be looking to make a quick buck in the few days before the Masters.  The streets around the Augusta National are a hive of activity for golf memorabilia sellers, with golf fans shopping for souvenirs.

Joe Soprano a businessman from Britain has made the pilgrimage to Augusta is Joe Soprano,  he sells golf memorabilia around the world but this is his first masters, he is quoted on the NBC website as saying

“This is the Sistine chapel of golf,  With the week just teeing off, it looks like sales will be a gimme. 

Golf Memorabilia is big business.   Joe Soprano’s most expensive item is a signed tiger woods print that is on sale for 10,000 thousand us dollars (equivalent to five thousands UK pounds).
