Dixon Victorious in Saint-Omer Open
David Dixon birdied his way to victory in the 2008 Saint-Omer Open presented by Neuflize OBC a 66 on the final round giving him a one stroke lead and a cheque for €100,000.
Four consecutive birdies on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th holes set up the victory and a final birdie on 14 put him safe. Dixon finished with a four round total of 279, five under par.
On Friday he shot a six over 77 and looked to be out with the washing but subsequent rounds of 67, 69 and 66 put him on the podium.
Dixon from Bridgewater, England, is back on the European Tour after coming through the 2007 Qualifying School, he is enjoying his best ever season and earlier in the year came joint sixth in the 2008 Alfred Dunhill Championship. This victory will ensure he retains his Tour card something that he has failed to do in the past.
Second place went to Sweden’s Christian Nilsson who had the lead for the middle two days, Nilsson chalked up a level par round of 71 today and lost out by one shot.
Scotland’s Steven O’Hara enjoyed an eventful round of 68, comprising seven birdies and four bogeys, to take third place.
