Dinwiddie Shows His Credentials In Spain

Robert Dinwiddie achieved his first top ten placing on the European Tour in last weeks MAPFRE Open de Andalucia at the Aloha golf club, when he shared sixth place, however but for an unfortunate incident on Saturday he may have finished even higher.

Dinwiddie from Barnard Castle in County Durham, England, went through 11 on Saturday two under for the third round and nine under for the tournament, just a solitary shot behind then leader Lee Westwood.

At the 12th disaster and embarrassment struck, he pulled his tee shot left and it landed in an unplayable lie, then when he jumped over a small wall to get back on the fairway he ripped his trouser leg right down the inner thigh, as a result of this distraction Dinwiddie played a double bogey later in the round.

Dinwiddie told reporters:

“I had no change of trousers, no water proofs, no nothing, it was the first time I had been well-placed, being regularly shown on the television, and here I was with six holes to play getting a draught in my trousers. I had little option but to keep playing like that for the last few holes and it was distracting. Who knows how distracting?”

Dinwiddie was back on form on Sunday though, he hit a superb 66 which included seven birdies and just one bogey lifting back up to sixth place.

Robert Dinwiddie will be hoping to enjoy the same level of form in this week’s Estoril Open de Portugal, but without the embarrassing moments.
