Cook and Vaughan swap places at top of The Senior Open Championship Leaderboard
John Cook carded a 4 under par 67 to take over at the top of the leaderboard in the The Senior Open Championship presented by MasterCard at Royal Troon.
The American is now 6 under par for the tournament after hitting 6 birdies and just 2 bogeys in his fine round, joint best of the day with Greg Norman.
Overnight leader fellow American Bruce Vaughan, who is struggling with a knee injury, got off to the best possible start with an eagle at the 4th followed by birdies at 6 and 8, then the wheels fell off a bit and he carded 4 consecutive bogeys on from the 9th to the 12th, luckily he recovered his rhythm with birdies on the 14th and 18th to finish the day in second place with a 2 under round of 69, -5 for the tournament 1 shot adrift of John Cook.
A further stroke back in third place is the Argentine golfer Eduardo Romero who shot a 3 under par 68 to keep up his good record in the top events.
In joint 4th place on 1 under we have the heavyweight duo of Bernhard Langer and Tom Watson who are poised to pounce in the final round tomorrow.
Greg Norman showed a bit of the magic he displayed last week in The Open at Royal Birkdale, equalling the best round of the day with a 67, he opened with a birdie on the 1st and then proceeded to pick up shots on the 4th, 6th and 16th holes to get himself into 6th place just 7 stokes behind with one round to play.
