Chris Wood turns Pro after open
Chris Wood the Silver Medal winner at the 2008 British Open for best Amateur has announced he has turned professional.
His Performance has already led to him getting an exemption from qualifying for the 2009 Open at Turnberry.

Chris Wood had an impressive Open where he finished 5th and he out scored some of the worlds best golfers in the really difficult conditions at Royal Birkdale.
The 20 year old from Bristol has now signed with professional sports agency, International Sports Management group. IMG are one of the top sports agencies in the world. Golfers that IMG look after include Ernie Els, Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke, Paul McGinley, David Howell and the 2007 Open silver medal winner Rory McIlroy. Their website says that their clients won over 50 tournaments on the world’s major tours in 2007.
Now Chris Wood has turned pro he will be invited to play European Tour Events.
Chris Wood is a huge golfer!! standing 6th 5in, his sucess mirrors a young Justin Rose who also blossomed at Royal Birkdale in 1998 finishing 4th as a raw amateur 17 year Old Justin Rose is now established in the world top 10 and is based in Florida and plays mostly on the lucrative US PGA Tour. Wood has already got an invite to the Quinn Insurance British Masters at The Belfry, on 25 September but he is likely to get a few more invites before that.

Wood can have seven sponsor’s invites this season. If he manages to earn around £150,000 by the end of the season he will not need to go through the tough November European Tour qualifying school.
