Australian Robert Allenby is directly behind Mahan with regard to this particular Tour stat, and he finished three shots adrift of Choi last year.

Allenby was the runner-up at the Stanford St Jude Championship and tied for 10th at the Memorial Tournament.

Lucas Glover finished in a tie for seventh at last week’s Buick Open and the American was also in the top 20 at the preceding Travelers Championship.

It is worth noting that Glover was prolific at this stage of 2007 with a top 10 at the Buick followed by a tie for 12th in Maryland, and a share of 11th at the John Deere Classic in a three week spell.

32-year-old Pat Perez is yet to win on the PGA Tour, but he has enjoyed a respectable season so far with three top 10s and, this golfer from Arizona, finished 36th at the US Open in his last outing.

Perez carded a lively 67 in the final round at the AT&T National a year ago, to leap from 21st to a tie for third.

Jim Furyk, who shared third a year ago, promised to be an interesting punt this week, but he just could not get going at the Buick Open where he boasts a terrific record.

The former US Open champion has not finished in the top 10 since May’s Wachovia Championship.
