2008 BMW PGA Golf Championship Leading Contenders

The entry list for this years renewal of the BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Club, Virginia Water, Surrey, England, reads like a veritable who’s who of golf.

South African Ernie Els will be amongst the favorites to take the title, the current world number three has a detailed knowledge of the Wentworth course which he has spent the last three years modernising without losing the character of Harry Colt’s original design.

World number nine Vijay Singh of Fiji also will be also be in attendance along with others from the top twenty in the world rankings, Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Justin Rose, and Henrik Stenson.

The star names continue Colin Montgomerie will be hoping for his fourth win in the tournament.

In total seven major winners will be teeing off on Thursday we have mentioned Singh and Els, the others are José Maria Olazábal, Angel Cabrera, Paul Lawrie, Michael Campbell, and Retief Goosen.

Twelve months ago Anders Hansen of Denmark won the BMW PGA Championship in a thrilling playoff with England’s Justin Rose and as a result became one of only eight players to have won the even more than once.
